Context
AxisForge ran critical internal operations across spreadsheets, email approvals, and disconnected tools — creating audit gaps and slow reporting for leadership. They needed a governed operations hub without a big-bang migration that would halt engineering delivery.
Challenge
Workflow automation had to respect least-privilege access across engineering, finance, and ops. Each domain owned different legacy data shapes; parallel run periods were mandatory. Cloud spend was creeping upward without visibility into which workflows drove cost.
Architecture
Next.js operations portal with Temporal-backed workflow engine, PostgreSQL RBAC policy layer, and a reporting warehouse fed by event streams. Services run containerized on AWS with Grafana dashboards for workflow health and infrastructure cost attribution per team.
Delivery
Domain-by-domain migration with two-week parallel runs before cutover. Manual handoffs dropped 34%; report generation fully automated; cloud spend reduced 22% after rightsizing and workflow consolidation. AxisForge ops leads own workflow definitions and escalation paths.
