Context
BioCircuit Systems ships diagnostic hardware that must stream high-frequency sensor data from bedside devices to clinical monitoring environments. Reliability and traceability outweigh feature count; regulatory documentation is part of the product. Corexel aligned firmware, transport, and monitoring teams on a single telemetry contract before hardware spin.
Challenge
Sixteen sensor channels per device at sub-second latency, processed on constrained embedded hardware, then encrypted to cloud ingestion without dropping clinical events. Monitoring had to surface device health, not just patient waveforms. FDA-aligned documentation needed to trace design decisions to test evidence.
Architecture
Edge firmware performs filtering and compression before BLE transport to a gateway service. Encrypted ingestion lands in TimescaleDB with retention tuned for clinical review. The React monitoring layer separates device health, alert routing, and waveform inspection. Embedded diagnostics expose self-test results over a documented comms protocol for field service.
Delivery
Hardware bring-up, clinical environment soak tests, and submission-support documentation shipped in lockstep. Telemetry uptime reached 99.6% in pilot wards; diagnostic latency stayed under 500ms. Handoff included validation matrices, rollback procedures, and training for BioCircuit clinical engineering staff.
