Context
DeltaGrid monitors environmental conditions across remote substations where manual calibration visits were costly and anomaly detection lagged by days. Leadership wanted unified telemetry without replacing installed sensor hardware where still viable.
Challenge
LoRaWAN coverage varied by terrain; calibration drift over seasons could silently corrupt compliance reports. Operators needed one dashboard, not per-site tools.
Architecture
Calibrated sensor nodes with metadata captured at install, LoRa gateways with redundant backhaul where feasible, Python ingestion with calibration correction, InfluxDB time-series, and Grafana dashboards with tiered alerting.
Delivery
Forty-six sites brought online after survey and gateway placement optimization. Calibration drift held under 2%; uplink reliability at 97.5%. Field calibration tooling and operator training completed before fleet-wide activation.
